Marble Arvidson’s case is a mysterious one, ultimately made more so by the intervention of nature. Whatever happened to this bright, quirky 17-year-old happened at the worst possible time.

Marble, a resident of Brattleboro, Vermont, was about to start his senior year in high school just before his disappearance. On August 27, 2011, about 1:15 PM, a man came to the door of the house where he lived with his foster family. Marble invited this person in and chatted with them, then left the house shortly afterward, leaving a note saying he’d be back shortly. He was supposed to meet his girlfriend at 4PM. He never showed up.

Right after Marble’s disappearance, Tropical Storm Irene struck New England. There was heavy flooding in Vermont, which may have washed away any clues that might have indicated what happened to him–or might have washed away Marble himself. No trace of him has ever been found. The caller who came to his house on the afternoon of August 27 has never been identified.

Here’s Marble’s Charley Project writeup, and a website established by his family to publicize his disappearance. Marble Arvidson is also one of the cases I chose to showcase on the YouTube channel I created for Charley Project. Here’s the video:
